Prince William discusses Princess Charlotte playing football at ceremony

The Prince of Wales discussed Princess Charlotte and her football playing at Windsor Castle as he honoured former England women's footballer Kerry Davis with an MBE on Wednesday (13 May). The Stoke-on-Trent-born striker said Prince William had told her she is a “pioneer” of the modern game and that she had asked him about his daughter “because she plays”. In July last year, Princess Charlotte and Prince William were captured celebrating England’s Lionesses Euro 2025 win. Ms Davis was the first Black footballer to play for the national women's team and was formerly the Lionesses’ all-time top goalscorer before Kelly Smith set a new record in 2012.
