Gina Rinehart will ask an appeals court to overturn a swath of findings in the landmark ruling that her company owes two rivals hundreds of millions of dollars in mining royalties, in a sweeping claim that threatens to send the long-running legal battle back to court for an indeterminable time.

Court documents detailing the appeal show Rinehart’s Hancock Prospecting will contest numerous orders stemming from West Australian Supreme Court Justice Jennifer Smith’s 1655-page judgment in the case pitting the descendants of three WA mining dynasties against each other.
