Two locals, including a school teacher, were arrested in the Chenab Valley’s Kishtwar over allegations of “aiding foreign terrorists and providing shelter and logistical support”.
“Through meticulous investigation and precise operations, police apprehended Mashkoor Ahmed, a resident of Beighpora, Singhpora, Kishtwar, who is a teacher in the School Education Department. He was directly implicated in facilitating the terrorists’ hideout. This arrest disrupts critical logistics supporting terror activities in the region,” the police said.
The police identified the other accused as Maneer Ahmed, a resident of Bandeyan Naidgam. “The investigation continues to dismantle the entire network, with all perpetrators to face justice under due legal process,” the police said.
The police said these locals “extended support to the Saifullah group”, comprising around six non-local terrorists who were neutralised in multiple operations in the Kishtwar district in the past one year. According to the security officials, six Pakistan-sponsored terrorists were killed in February-March in the Kishtwar-Udhampur belt this year. In February this year, Saifullah and his two associates were also killed in an anti-terror operation.
