FCC Chair Brendan Carr is escalating his fight with Disney in a move threatening its coveted broadcast licenses — a rare flex of regulatory pressure coming days after the White House called for late-night host Jimmy Kimmel to be taken off air.

The FCC’s review could expose Disney to prolonged public scrutiny and the loss of licenses for eight stations in major cities including New York, Chicago and Los Angeles — years before they’re due to come up for renewal. The regulatory process could stretch for years and eventually come before the FCC’s in-house judge, though further court challenges are possible.
