Anthropic is reportedly in talks to raise funding that would value it as close to a trillion dollars.
Anthropic is in discussions with investors to raise between $30bn and $50bn in new funding at a valuation of up to $950bn, a deal that would see the Claude maker surpass rival OpenAI as the world’s most valuable artificial intelligence start-up.
The New York Times, citing people involved in the discussions, reported on Tuesday (12 April) that the talks could value Anthropic at two-and-a-half times its valuation of $380bn just three months ago. The potential valuation would exceed OpenAI’s most recent figure of $852bn, achieved in a funding round completed in March.
Bloomberg, which first reported in late April that Anthropic was weighing a round at a valuation of more than $900bn, reported yesterday that the company has since held discussions with existing backers about participating in a new raise of $30bn.
