May 13 (UPI) -- Lorenzo Musetti, a singles semifinalist at the 2025 French Open, withdrew from the 2026 tournament due to a thigh injury, he announced Wednesday.

Musetti was hurt during a Round of 16 loss to No. 25 Casper Ruud of Norway at the Italian Open on Tuesday in Rome. He said he underwent a medical examination, which revealed a rectus femoris injury.

The Italian, who sits at No. 10 in the ATP singles rankings, said the injury requires "several weeks of rest and recovery."

"Unfortunately, this means I won't be able to compete in Hamburg and Roland Garros -- news that is incredibly hard to take," Musetti wrote on Instagram.

"A huge thank you to the Rome crowd for your incredible support: that's exactly why, despite not being 100%, I chose to step on court and give everything I had in my home tournament. I'll keep you updated."
