Patmos is endless – there’s always a path you haven’t been on. I’m from Thessaloniki in the north of Greece, but my parents got a place here when I was born. I’ve basically spent every summer of my life on Patmos. Everything is connected to the island – my best friends, my love life, my work.

Being a designer has allowed me to spend more and more time on the island: I visit very often. I’ve restored four historic houses here – two of which are available to rent through my company, Leda Space – as well as a guesthouse called Pagostas. I try to do projects based nearby because I love Greece and the islands. It’s become more fashionable to honour Greek craftsmanship and heritage.
Patmos is in the Dodecanese. To reach it you can either take an eight-hour ferry from Athens, which is what I do because I’m old-school, or you can take a heli, which is not what I do. You can also fly to Kos, a nearby island, and take a two-hour ferry from there. But eight hours is eight hours; I don’t mind. For me it’s like breathing.
