FDA Commissioner Marty Makary resigned from the agency Tuesday, according to multiple reports, in the wake of reports that President Donald Trump had been considering firing him for months as he faced Republican backlash over his resistance to their push to limit abortion pills.
Makary will be replaced temporarily by former FDA official Kyle Diamantas, according to Politico.
