Welsh singing star Bonnie Tyler is in a stable condition in a Portuguese hospital following emergency intestinal surgery last week.

"As of this morning, Bonnie remains seriously ill but stable in hospital in Faro, however, her doctors are still positive that she will make a full recovery," Tyler's spokesman told the BBC.

"When there is any further news of Bonnie's condition, then we will issue another statement," he added.

The Total Eclipse of the Heart singer, 74, was taken to hospital on Wednesday and placed in an induced coma following the operation. Fans have posted comments under a post on Bonnie Tyler's Facebook page wishing her well.

Fans from around the world have sent encouraging messages, including those who have undergone similar surgery.
