The Delhi police on Monday (May 11, 2026) detained four persons for allegedly attacking and molesting two women. The incident happened at 7 a.m. in Nehru Place on Sunday (May 10, 2026).
The accused have been identified as Md. Fahad, 28, who works as a computer operator at a private institute; Md. Savej, 28, a former bouncer who currently works as a contract worker; Md. Arif, 33, who works at a mobile store in Noida; and Aman alias Mohd. Faheem, 21, a cab driver with a ride-hailing app and resident of Jamia Nagar. “Further legal proceedings are under way,” said an officer.
DCP (South East) Hemant Tiwari said the women were taken to AIIMS for medical examination and subsequently a case was filed under Sections 115(2) (voluntarily causing hurt), 74 (criminal assault against a woman to outrage her modesty), 126(2) (wrongful restraint), 351(2) (criminal intimidation), 78 (stalking), and 3(5) (common intent) of the BNS.
“The incident started when the four men on two bikes harassed the two women while passing by, to which the victims responded verbally,” said the DCP. He added that the victims, who hail from Assam and Bihar, later went to a tea shop. “The accused came to the tea shop after five minutes and indulged in a verbal altercation and quarrel. A few onlookers helped the girls,” Mr. Tiwari added.
