​British Prime ‌Minister Keir Starmer has ​been ⁠told by Interior Minister ‌Shabana Mahmood ‌and other ‌senior ⁠cabinet Ministers ⁠to consider setting out ​a timeline ‌for his departure, TheTimes newspaper ‌reported ​on Monday (May 11, 2026).

The Times reported ⁠that Ms. Mahmood was one ‌of at least three Cabinet Ministers to ‌suggest that ​the Prime Minister needs ⁠to consider his ⁠position.

Earlier, in response to calls for his resignation after the Labour Party’s poor subnational election performance, Mr. Starmer stated he would remain in his position, taking responsibility and acknowledging that a “bigger response” was needed.

“...We need a bigger response than we anticipated in 2024 because these are not ordinary times, and this is a political challenge just as much as it’s a policy challenge,” he said in a speech in London on Monday (May 11, 2026) morning.
