The State government has decided to elicit views of all stakeholders for revision of minimum wages to workers in a manner that benefits them.

The government has resolved to ensure that the revision benefits workers of both organised and unorganised sectors. The Cabinet sub-committee headed by Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka held discussions on the issue on Monday.

The committee decided that workers’ wages should not merely be revised numerically, but should reflect their real-life needs. Wages must be aligned with rising prices and increasing cost of living. The Cabinet sub-committee said the government was firm on implementing the best wage models in Telangana.

The Deputy Chief Minister said that the government wanted wage revision to be scientific and practical. The committee accordingly examined minimum wage policies being implemented in other major States. Panel members held discussions on the possible impact of the new labour code that the Central government was planning to implement.
