May 8 (UPI) -- A Colorado police officer came to the rescue of a skunk with a cup stuck over its head -- and managed to avoid being sprayed.
The Parker Police Department shared body camera footage to social media showing the rescue that occurred after 3 a.m. on April 27.
"Not exactly the kind of early morning encounter you are hoping for, for obvious reasons," the post said. "After a few careful attempts with a catchpole, the officer made a bold call, rolled the dice and removed the cup by hand. One quick move later, freedom."
Police said the skunk "waddled off" uninjured, "and thankfully without registering a stinky complaint."
The post said the incident should serve as a reminder to residents of the danger that litter can pose to wildlife.
