May 8 (UPI) -- Bayern Munich's Alphonso Davies will be out several weeks because of a hamstring injury, the German Bundesliga club announced Friday.

Davies, who was expected to represent Canada in the 2026 World Cup, hurt his left hamstring during Bayern's 1-1 draw with Paris Saint-Germain on Wednesday in the second leg of their Champions League semifinal.

The defender assisted forward Harry Kane for an equalizer in stoppage time, which allowed Paris Saint-Germain to advance to the final.

"We're in close contact with Alphonso and remain in touch with Bayern's medical team following his recent setback," the Canadian men's national team said in a statement.

"Our focus is on supporting his recovery and providing every available resource, including specialized soft tissue expertise, to give him the best possible pathway back to full fitness ahead of the FIFA World Cup."
