US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, asked Friday in Rome whether he believed a phone conversation between President Donald Trump and Pope Leo XIV was possible in the near future, replied: "Maybe, it could happen." Relations between the United States and the Vatican are tense after a series of broadsides against the pope from Trump over the pontiff's condemnation of war amid the Iran war.
Rubio had friendly talks with Leo in the Vatican Thursday and said the US and the Holy See shared a commitment to peace.
