Tamil Nadu Congress Committee president K. Selvaperunthagai on Thursday announced a Statewide protest on Friday at 11 a.m. at all the district headquarters against the Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar for not inviting Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam president C. Joseph Vijay to form the government.
In a letter written to the district presidents of the party, Mr. Selvaperunthagai said the TVK has emerged as the single largest party in the Assembly and the Governor, instead of inviting the party to form the government, has been acting as the “puppet of the BJP government at Centre.” He said the BJP and the Governor were acting against the Constitution of India.
In Chennai, the protest will be held near Tarapore Towers on Anna Salai at 11.a.m. He urged the Congress functionaries to participate in the protest. The Congress, a long time ally of the DMK and contested as a part of the Secular Progressive Alliance, snapped its ties on Wednesday and aligned with the TVK. It also extended support to the TVK to form the government.
