Stephen Colbert on Tuesday had fun with one of the weirder moments from Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth’s latest Pentagon press briefing — the topic of alleged “kamikaze dolphins.”

The “Late Show” host highlighted the moment Hegseth was asked about reports that Iran was deploying “kamikaze dolphins” in the Strait of Hormuz.

Hegseth replied: “I can’t confirm or deny whether we have kamikaze dolphins. But I can confirm they don’t.”

Colbert quickly pounced.

“Well, then clearly we have kamikaze dolphins,” he joked. “We strapped porpoises with high explosives and then depressed them sufficiently that they’re willing to ram ships in exchange for the promise of herring.”
