May 6 (UPI) -- The Harry Potter television series has been renewed for Season 2 ahead of its debut.
Deadline reported Wednesday that the television adaptation of the J.K. Rowling fantasy book series will resume production this fall.
Variety and The Hollywood Reporter confirmed the news.
Season 1 is based on Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, the first book in Rowling's series, and will premiere Dec. 25 on HBO and HBO Max.
Season 2 is expected to adapt Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, with writer Jon Brown to join Francesca Gardiner as co-showrunner on that season.
