Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Tuesday ordered the dismissal of a contractual junior engineer of the Irrigation and Flood Control Department for negligence after a two-year-old girl died when she fell into an open drain in Mukundpur on Sunday.
Reported missing
The victim’s family had filed a complaint with the police after the girl, who was playing outside her house, went missing.
Police personnel, along with the family members, launched a search and found her in a drain about 15 metres from the house.
She was taken to Babu Jagjivan Ram Hospital, where she was declared dead on arrival.
