Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Tuesday unveiled the State Focus Paper of the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD), outlining a credit plan of ₹5.11 lakh crore for the Financial Year 2026–27.
The proposed outlay marked a nearly 20% increase from the previous year’s ₹4.24 lakh crore, reflecting a stronger push towards priority sector lending.
Of the total allocation, ₹2.55 lakh crore was earmarked for agriculture and allied activities. This included ₹1.66 lakh crore for crop loans, ₹34,972 crore for animal husbandry, ₹8,265 crore for farm mechanisation, ₹21,098 crore for fisheries, and ₹11,961 crore for horticulture.
A significant portion, ₹5,313 crore, was specifically allocated for horticulture development in Rayalaseema and Prakasam districts. Additionally, ₹9,957 crore was set aside for agricultural infrastructure and ₹12,687 crore for allied activities. The plan also earmarked ₹1.64 lakh crore for micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs).
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Naidu urged the banks and NABARD officials to extend strong support to the government’s push for horticulture expansion. He highlighted the State’s target of achieving 450 lakh tonnes of horticulture output annually, and emphasised the crucial role of agriculture, particularly horticulture and aquaculture, in driving economic growth.
