A 32-year-old man from Bihar was arrested by the Government Railway Police (GRP) and Railway Protection Force (RPF) at the Secunderabad railway station for transporting 14.322 kg ganja from Odisha.

The accused, identified as Jawahar Kumar, a centring worker in Odisha and a native of Khagaria district in Bihar, was apprehended during a joint checking operation on May 4. Police said that the contraband, valued at over ₹7.16 lakh, was seized from a trolley suitcase in his possession. A case was registered under the NDPS Act.

Investigations revealed that Jawahar Kumar had recently travelled to Odisha for work, where he came in contact with Akhilesh Kumar, a resident of Balugaon, who is currently absconding. Akhilesh recruited him to transport ganja, offering ₹7,000 per trip.

On May 3, Akhilesh handed over a suitcase containing ganja packets and instructed Jawahar Kumar to deliver it to Pune. With no direct train available, the accused boarded the Visakha Express from Odisha and concealed the suitcase under his seat in a general coach.

He arrived in Secunderabad on the morning of May 4 and waited at the station for further instructions from the handler. Acting on suspicion during surveillance and checking, railway police intercepted him around 11.45 a.m. and recovered the contraband.
