A new campaign advertisement uses video generated by artificial intelligence to depict Rep. Thomas Massie (R-Ky.) in a romantic liaison with progressive Democratic women in the so-called Squad.
In the ad, made by a group aligned with President Donald Trump, a narrator accuses Massie of going against the president on key votes in Congress — while showing Massie going on a dinner date and then holding hands in a hotel lobby with Reps. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.).
“Thomas Massie, caught in a throuple in Washington,” the ad’s narrator says. “He’s cheating with The Squad on the America First movement.”
It’s actually “worse than adultery,” the narrator says. “It’s a complete and total betrayal of president Trump and Kentucky conservatives.”
Massie is facing a Trump-backed challenger named Ed Gallrein in a Republican primary election this month. Limited polling suggests Massie holds a slim lead despite an onslaught of spending by Trump-aligned groups.
