As the first four months of 2026 drew to a close, Paul Seixas, his entourage and his team were holding back: They needed to wait before discussing the possibility of him participating in the Tour de France, to take the time to assess his fatigue levels after his first successes on the world circuit. After his April 26 second place finish at the Liège-Bastogne-Liège race, finishing behind Tadej Pogacar, just 10 days were enough.
The 19-year-old prodigy and his team, Decathlon-CMA CGM, reached the long-awaited decision on Monday, May 4: He will compete in the Tour this summer, from July 4 to 26. The announcement came in a video posted on social media, in which the young rider talks with his grandparents in Haute-Savoie, where he said he had first started cycling.
Seixas, a native of Lyon, will therefore start his first grand tour in Barcelona, Spain, on July 4. It will be a chance to measure his skills against the top cyclists who are expected in the Tour's peloton: from Pogacar (UAE Team Emirates-XRG) to Jonas Vingegaard (Visma-Lease a Bike), as well as Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe's Remco Evenepoel and Florian Lipowitz. He will also tackle a three-week race, something he has never done before in his young career.
