Defeat to Sassuolo ends Milan’s slim hopes

Inter need a point to be crowned champions

Milan relinquished their slim hopes of catching Inter at the top of Serie A as they subsided 2-0 at mid-table Sassuolo on Sunday.

Inter can clinch a 21st title should they win or draw against Parma on Sunday night. Should Inter lose, only second-placed Napoli, nine points behind with three rounds of matches left, will have a chance of catching them.

Milan endured a nightmare afternoon in Reggio Emilia. It took just five minutes for Sassuolo to take the lead through Domenico Berardi while Milan played with 10 for most of the match after Fikayo Tomori was sent off in the 24th minute for a second booking.
