Michael Carrick said that leading the team “feels pretty natural” after the interim manager guided Manchester United to a 3-2 win against Liverpool, which sealed Champions League qualification.
Victory over Arne Slot’s visitors took Carrick’s tally to 32 points from his 14 games in charge since replacing Ruben Amorim in January. This has made him the favourite to be offered the full-time position and the 44-year-old was reminded of his record with regard to him becoming the No 1.
Carrick said: “It’s been a good run. We’ve beaten some very, very good teams and it’s been challenging. Sometimes we’ve won it in some ways, sometimes we’ve won it in other ways. I love doing what I’m doing. It’s a great position for me to be in and it feels pretty natural if I’m totally honest.
