Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant-Governor Manoj Sinha on Sunday (May 3, 2026) galvanised a major rally in Srinagar for the ongoing anti-drug initiatives and issued a stern warning to narco-terror networks and anti-national elements.

On Mr. Sinha’s invitation, the Speaker of the House, Cabinet Ministers, legislators, heads of regional parties, top security officials, religious leaders, educational institutes and administrators of hospitals attended a two-kilometre-long rally from the Tourist Reception Centre (TRC) ground to Lal Chowk. Students performed skits, sang songs and raised awareness on substance abuse on the occasion.

“It is the cry of every mother who has seen her child consumed by addiction, every teacher who has witnessed talent and potential fade into silence. Determination to uproot drugs is not only a declaration from the administration, but it is a collective resolve of people, who, after enduring decades of suffering, have risen to say: enough is enough,” said Mr. Sinha.

Without naming Pakistan, Mr. Sinha hinted that the neighbouring country was “using drug money to run terrorism and radicalisation in J&K”.

“Our neighbouring country, known as the world’s foremost incubator of terrorism, is pushing drugs to harm our youth and sponsor terrorism. Drug money fuels terrorism and radicalisation,” said Mr. Sinha.
