A small but mighty Pomeranian found himself in a tricky situation after the pup accidentally got his head stuck between the rails of a baby gate at a home in Merritt Island, Florida.
Odin, a curious 3 1/2-year-old Pomeranian with "zero sense of personal boundaries," was poking his head through the baby gate while "trying to see what was going on," only to realize "he couldn’t reverse his decision," his owner Taeli Jo Troumbly told USA TODAY on April 30.
"My first reaction was a mix of panic and 'How did you even manage that?'," Troumbly, who has had Odin since he was a puppy, said. "It was one of those moments where you’re worried but also slightly in disbelief."
A fire crew had to be called in to pry the naughty Pomeranian free. Video footage from the incident shows Brevard County Fire Rescue firefighters using a hydraulic rescue tool to ease the gate open.
"Lt. McGrew, Fire Medic Frelich, and Firefighter Vega used the jaws of life to spread the gate open to free Odin," the fire department said in an April 28 post on Facebook. "Using the tool allowed the crew to quickly remove Odin while keeping his paws on the ground and helping him stay calm."
