A spotted deer was handed over to the Bhimavaram forest range officials on Sunday by the locals in the West Godavari district.

On Sunday morning, two villagers – Saladi Ajay and Ch. Naga Ramesh – caught the animal after it was spotted near the Vayyeru irrigation canal. Later, the duo handed it over to Ganapavaram police.

"We have recovered the spotted deer from the Ganapavaram police and provided preliminary treatment and care,” Bhimavaram Forest Ranger M. Karunakar stated in a release.

A veterinary doctor and other rescue teams from Rajamahendravaram are monitoring the animal’s health condition. "The spotted deer will be released into its natural habitat along the Godavari river on Monday,” Mr. Karunakar said.
