South Central Railway (SCR) has introduced AI-based passenger information assistants ‘Bholu Mini’ and ‘Bholu Max’, one deployed at the Malkajgiri railway station and another at the Kacheguda railway station, on Friday.
The advanced interactive enquiry system was demonstrated live at Rail Nilayam, Secunderabad, in the presence of general manager Sanjay Kumar Srivastava and DRM-Hyderabad Santosh Kumar Verma. The Bholu AI assistants have been conceptualised, designed and developed in-house, including software coding by senior divisional commercial manager (Hyderabad division) Anirudh Pamar.
The general manager commended the team for their innovation and commitment in enhancing passenger experience through AI to deliver faster, smarter and more accessible information, thereby improving overall passenger satisfaction. These AI-enabled kiosks are being introduced on a trial basis as proof of concept. Based on the regular usage and feedback, necessary modifications will be made to further improve the systems. Subsequently, they will be introduced at important Railway stations across the zone.
The kiosks will provide real-time train information, platform details and station amenities, operate 24/7 with simple voice activation (“Hello”), use AI with railway databases ensuring accurate and reliable responses, compact, low-cost, and easily deployable across stations and fully automated system.
