The Adilabad one-town police have arrested four members of an inter-State gang from Uttar Pradesh for allegedly buying old mobile phones and using them for cybercrime.
The police identified the arrested accused as Arshad, 26, Asim Mohammad, 43, Mahabub Ali, 40, and Deen Mohammad, 37, all native of Muzaffarnagar in Uttar Pradesh.
Their modus operandi was to buy old mobile phones at a low price from gullible people, altering the devices and using them as tools for cybercrime, police said.
They were apprehended by the police during a night patrol near the bus stand in Adilabad on Thursday night. Several old mobile phones including motherboards, chips, and other components were seized from them.
