A ferry which was damaged in a berthing accident in March has returned to Jersey, operator DFDS said.

The Tarifa Jet resumed its St Malo services on Friday morning.

DFDS said the Caesarea Trader cargo ship had also returned to the island and restarted freight operations, following a fire which broke out in the engine room off the Isle of Wight in February.

The Levante Jet has returned for the four and a half hour crossing to Poole for the summer passenger service and its first sailing was also scheduled for Friday as the company announced timetable "improvements" for the season.

After the Tarifa was put out of action, DFDS used Côte d'Albâtre to operate a revised schedule between Portsmouth and Jersey to increase capacity over the Easter weekend.
