District Collector Vijaya Krishnan on Thursday (April 30, 2026), has urged the youth to stay away from narcotic substances and instead focus on building a bright and secure future. She also suggested setting up ‘Eagle Clubs’ in educational institutions to spread awareness among students.

A district-level committee meeting on drug and ganja control measures, along with awareness programmes under the Narco Coordination Centre (NCORD), was held on Thursday through video conference.

Addressing the meeting, Ms. Vijaya Krishnan said ganja abuse had become a root cause of several social problems. She advised those affected by addiction to use the services of de-addiction centres to overcome the problem.
