Police believe they have found the body of a five-year-old girl allegedly abducted from her Outback home, as a search for her suspected murderer continues.
The girl, identified as Sharon by authorities, was last seen on Saturday when she was put to bed at an Aboriginal town camp near Alice Springs just before midnight.
Northern Territory Police say the body of a child was located on Thursday, and forensic testing to confirm the young girl's identity and cause of death is underway.
They have been combing nearby bush and desert for 47-year-old Jefferson Lewis, who was released from prison just six days before Sharon disappeared and vanished around the same time.
