Raising concerns over the State government’s announcement of eight ‘Education Guarantees’, the Mysuru district committee of the All India Democratic Students Organisation (AIDSO) has questioned the practicability of the initiative and sought clarity on its implementation.
In a press statement issued here on Wednesday (April 29), AIDSO said that while the government claims it will build the best school education system in the country within three years, several issues remain unaddressed.
The organisation questioned the first guarantee of appointing one teacher per class up to class 5 and subject-wise teachers from class 6 onwards, asking when the recruitment of nearly 97,680 teachers required for over 19,500 lower primary schools will be taken up.
On the proposal to introduce English medium alongside Kannada in all schools, AIDSO district secretary Nithin pointed to the lack of adequate classrooms and trained teachers proficient in English.
Referring to the third guarantee of free transport for Karnataka Public School (KPS) students, the organisation noted that many villages still lack access to government bus services, casting doubts on the scheme’s reach.
