A railway worker attached to onboard services on the Visakha Express has been booked on a charge of raping a woman passenger during a journey from Visakhapatnam to Secunderabad on Sunday (April 25, 2026) the police said.

The woman lodged a complaint at the Rentachintala police station in Palnadu district on Tuesday, and a First Information Report (FIR) was registered. The case has since been transferred to the Government Railway Police (GRP) for further investigation.

According to the police, the accused was engaged in supplying bedsheets and other services in air-conditioned (AC) coaches. He allegedly approached the woman and her husband while they were seated near a toilet in a general compartment and persuaded them to move to an AC coach, citing better seating arrangements.
