The VIT Engineering Entrance Examination (VITEEE) 2026 for admission to B.Tech programmes at Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT) commenced on Tuesday.
According to a press release, the computer-based test will be held from April 28 to May 3 for admissions to the 2026-27 academic year. G. Viswanathan, founder and Chancellor, VIT, visited the examination centre at the campus in Vellore and reviewed the arrangements. Mr. Viswanthan was accompanied by Sankar Viswanathan and Sekar Viswanathan, vice-presidents, VIT.
“The examination is being conducted at 212 centres across 129 cities in India and at nine international centres in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Qatar, Muscat, Bahrain, Kuwait, Singapore, Malaysia, and Sharjah. The results are expected to be declared in the second week of May on the official website www.vit.ac.in, following which the counselling process will begin,” Mr. Viswanthan said.
Candidates who secure ranks from 1 to 1,00,000 will be eligible to participate in counselling and can choose their preferred campus and branch based on their rank and seat availability across four VIT campuses — Vellore, Chennai, Amaravati (Andhra Pradesh), and Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh).
Candidates securing ranks beyond 1,00,000 will be eligible only for the Amaravati and Bhopal campuses. The counselling will be conducted in multiple phases in May and June: Rank holders from 1 to 20,000 will attend the first phase, those ranked 20,001 to 45,000 the second phase, 45,001 to 70,000 the third phase, 70,001 to 1,00,000 the fourth phase, and candidates ranked above 1,00,000 will be considered in the fifth phase.
