DOJ Attacks National Trust For Continuing WH Ballroom Lawsuit: 'They Suffer From Trump Derangement Syndrome'The Justice Department on Monday called on a court to dissolve an injunction blocking the construction of President Donald Trump's $400 million ballroom, arguing the group that brought the lawsuit suffers from "Trump Derangement Syndrome."In an extraordinary filing that appears to echo the tone of Trump's Truth Social posts, the DOJ said the name of the National Trust for Historic Preservation, which refused to cede to the Trump administration's demand to drop the lawsuit following Saturday's shooting, is "FAKE.""They are very bad for our Country. They stop many projects that are worthy, and hurt many others. In this case, they are trying to stop one that is vital to our National Security, and the Safety of all Presidents of the United States, both current and future, their families, staff, and Cabinet members," the filing said."They suffer from Trump Derangement Syndrome, commonly referred to as TDS," it continued. The filing cites the shooting at the White House Correspondents' Dinner at the Washington Hilton as proof that the construction of the facility is necessary, saying such an attack "would have been impossible" had the facility been already built. The DOJ filing slammed opposition to the project, describing it as a gift to the American people "free of charge.""If any other President had the ability, foresight, or talents necessary, to build this ballroom, which will be one of the greatest, safest, and most secure structures of its kind anywhere in the World, there would never have been a lawsuit. But, because it is DONALD J. TRUMP, a highly successful real estate developer, who has abilities that others don’t, especially those who assume the Office of President, this frivolous and meritless lawsuit was filed," the filing states."On top of everything else, this project is a gift to our Country from President Trump, and other Donors. It is free of charge to the American Taxpayer. Who could ever object to that?" it asked. The White House has shared a list of donors who would foot the fill for the ballroom, which includes tech giants, like Meta and Amazon.
