Skip to Main ContentJournalist Sues DOJ For Violating Epstein Files Transparency ActA former federal prosecutor has filed a lawsuit against the Justice Department on behalf of an independent journalist, accusing the DOJ of violating the Epstein Files Transparency Act.In a brief statement accompanying the suit, lawyer Brendan Ballou accused Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche of withholding and improperly redacting documents.“Under Blanche’s and former Attorney General Pam Bondi’s leadership, the Department of Justice has failed to produce the required documents within the time required,” the lawsuit reads. “It has improperly redacted documents and failed to adequately explain those redactions. And it has either retracted, or failed to produce entirely, documents that should have been produced. All of this facially violates the law.”Ballou represents journalist Katie Phang.“As a journalist, I cannot report accurately on the Epstein Files if I cannot even read them,” Phang said. “We seek to hold the DOJ accountable for its noncompliance.”The DOJ violates the Epstein Files Transparency Act on the daily.
