April 27 (UPI) -- Dylan Carter, a singer and musician who once competed on The Voice, has died.
The Local Voice, a Santee, S.C., nonprofit co-founded by Carter, announced his death in a social media post Sunday.
"Dylan was the heart of what we do. He believed every voice matters and lived that every day. Through his music, his kindness and his smile, he brought people together and made everyone feel seen," the organization said.
Carter was an aspiring country music artist who appeared as a contestant in The Voice Season 24.
He performed the Whitney Houston song "I Look to You" as a tribute to his late mother during his audition, earning a four-chair turn from the judges. He chose Reba McEntire as his coach.
