The Madras High Court has directed the Tamil Nadu government to conduct a comprehensive survey throughout the State within four weeks, to identify hotspots of water stagnation and mosquito breeding since there were complaints of alarming increase in mosquito density in various places.

First Division Bench of Chief Justice Sushrut Arvind Dharmadhikari and Justice G. Arul Murugan ordered that all municipal corporations, municipalities, panchayats must conduct the survey in association with the State health department and in addition to the measures already being taken by them.
