Rajya Sabha Chairman and Vice-President C.P. Radhakrishnan on Monday (April 27, 2026), accepted the merger of seven Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MPs with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
With the merger of 7 AAP MPs, BJP’s strength in Rajya Sabha rises to 113 while AAP falls to three.

On April 24, 2026, in a massive setback to the AAP, seven of its 10 Rajya Sabha members broke away and joined BJP, marking a significant political realignment in the Upper House.
The MPs are Raghav Chadha, Sandeep Pathak, Ashok Kumar Mittal, Harbhajan Singh, Swati Maliwal, Rajendra Gupta and Vikramjit Singh Sahney.
