Officials said the State has 4,510 fuel outlets, of which about 10%, or 421 petrol bunks, had shut for want of stock. Fuel supply, they said, was already 10% higher than previous levels, but panic buying by consumers had driven an unexpected surge in demand, leaving long queues and rapid stock depletion at many outlets.
