Hong Kong’s new marina-residential tourism project has attracted local and overseas interest, with the city’s leading yacht club and a Singapore-based operator seeking partnerships with developers to expand their presence.Experts in the real estate and boating industries said developers would be keen to work with local, mainland Chinese or overseas marina operators to strengthen their bids and tap into the market, while also urging the government to improve infrastructure and reinforce the project’s position as a premium tourism development.Part of the government’s efforts to promote the yacht economy, the Aberdeen project will feature 250 private flats and 200 berths for yachts of up to 50 metres (164 feet) in length. The tender will launch in the first half of 2027 – the first for a marina in almost 40 years.SUTL Enterprise, a Singapore-based marina developer and operator, was among eight firms that submitted expressions of interest when the government sought market views for the proposal without the residential component last year. The company owns the ONE°15 Marina brand, which has developments in Singapore and Indonesia and is expanding in Thailand and Malaysia. Its flagship marina at Singapore’s Sentosa Cove hosts international events and offers more than 300 berths, along with a private club and hotel.
