Actor Reese Witherspoon dug in on her support for artificial intelligence after an Instagram post announcing why she was finally embracing the “AI revolution” backfired.

Last week, the “Legally Blonde” star tried to argue that women can’t get “left behind” by technological evolution. She said that the jobs held by women were “3x more likely to be automated by AI,” but women were using the technology “at a rate 25% lower than men on average.” Witherspoon did not explain where those stats came from.

Critics swarmed her Instagram comments section to highlight AI’s downsides and ask whether she was surreptitiously shilling something.

Attempting to set the record straight online Monday, Witherspoon took to her Instagram Story to say, “Well, I guess my AI post got people talking.”

“To be clear, no one is paying me to talk about this,” Witherspoon wrote. “I’m just a curious human. My kids are learning about AI tools, I know a lot of founders who are vibe coding, and I hear about people using AI in EVERY sector of business.”
