A day after a man was burnt alive, the Byadarahlli police have taken Prema, 27, his female friend, into three days custody to ascertain the exact motive behind the murder.
Prema, according to the police, tied up Kiran, 27, blindfolded him, and later poured petrol mixed with kerosene and set him on fire.
A probe revealed that Kiran was in a relationship with Prema for over a year. The accused claimed that the relationship had turned sour in recent months after Kiran began distancing himself and reconnecting with his former girlfriend. The police said that this led to frequent arguments between them.
The police said the woman later contacted Kiran from a different number and convinced him to meet her.
Investigators alleged that the accused had pre-planned the murder in two days.
