Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister and NCP leader Sunetra Pawar on Tuesday (April 21, 2026) expressed doubts about the air crash that killed her husband, Ajit Pawar, in January. She said that everyone needs to get answers about the tragic air crash, and that if anybody is at fault, they should be given the strictest punishment.
She was speaking at the concluding rally of her political campaign in Baramati on Tuesday. The Baramati by-polls will be held on April 23.
Maha Vikas Aghadi has not given any candidate against her, after Sharad Pawar’s appeal. On Tuesday, the ruling Mahayuti alliance partners held a concluding rally in Baramati. Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Shiv Sena and NCP leaders were present on the stage at this time. NCP SP MP Supriya Sule also attended the rally briefly to express her support for Sunetra Pawar. She wished Ms. Pawar on behalf of the MVA leaders Sonia Gandhi and Uddhav Thackeray.
While raising doubts for the first time during a public appearance, Ms. Pawar said, “We must get all answers. That is why I took the initiative to meet Narendra Modi and Amit Shah and hold talks with them. They, too, have ordered an in-depth and independent inquiry into the matter.”
