President Donald Trump said Tuesday he would extend the U.S. ceasefire with Iran, which is set to expire Wednesday, despite calling off negotiations and warning earlier in the day he would resume bombing without a deal in place.
Trump said “we have been asked to hold our Attack on the Country of Iran until such time as their leaders and representatives can come up with a unified proposal,” he wrote on Truth Social, adding that he’s directed the military to continue its blockade of Iranian ports and vessels.
Vice President JD Vance called off a planned trip to Pakistan Tuesday for peace talks after Iran didn’t respond to the U.S.’s proposal, an unnamed U.S. official told The New York Times.
