President Donald Trump took to social media to praise Apple CEO Tim Cook a day after the tech giant announced he was stepping down from the top role.
"I have always been a big fan of Tim Cook, and likewise, Steve Jobs, but if Steve was not taken from the Planet Earth so young, and ran the company instead of Tim, the company would have done well, but nowhere near as well as it has under Tim," Trump's April 21 Truth Social post started.
The president went on to describe a "long and very nice relationship" between himself and Cook that he said began during his first term when the CEO called him for help with a "fairly large problem that only I, as President, could fix."
"When I got the call I said, wow, it’s Tim Apple (Cook!) calling, how big is that? I was very impressed with myself to have the head of Apple calling to 'kiss my ass,'" the post continued, poking fun at a viral snafu Trump made while speaking during a 2019 White House meeting in which he accidentally thanked "Tim Apple."
Trump then recounted helping Cook with various unspecified problems throughout his presidency, repeatedly referencing the pair's apparent ability to solve issues without using an external, "very expensive" consultant or consulting firm.
