Retired Jharkhand High Court judge, Justice Amitav Kumar Gupta, was on Tuesday (April 21, 2026) sworn in as the State’s new Lokayukta.
Governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar administered the oath of office to him during a ceremony at the Lok Bhavan in Ranchi. Chief Minister Hemant Soren was also present on the occasion along with other dignitaries.
Mr. Gupta was appointed the Lokayukta of Jharkhand by the Governor on April 16.
The position of Lokayukta in the state had been vacant for the past couple of years.
The High Court had earlier this month directed the Jharkhand government to expedite the appointment process of the Lokayukta and other constitutional authorities.
