Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) on Monday offered what could be considered a surprising take on Donald Trump’s second-term golfing habits, which, according to a recent HuffPost analysis, have now cost taxpayers more than $100 million.

Asked by MeidasTouch Network’s Pablo Manríquez for her reaction to Trump golfing “while we’re at war” with Iran and as prices continue to soar, the New York Democrat acknowledged “it’s awful that this guy’s playing golf” instead of focusing on the job at hand.

She then added a striking caveat.

“But in a way, we’re already seeing that some of the most important military decision-makers in the country are trying to keep him out of consequential decisions,” she said, an apparent reference to a Wall Street Journal report that alleged “aides kept the president out of the room as they got minute-by-minute updates” during the delicate operation to rescue airmen downed in Iran “because they believed his impatience wouldn’t be helpful.”
